What is Reliability Status?
Government Reliability Status is a required personnel security status that allows a worker to gain access to Protected A, B or C information, assets or work sites. Diving a little deeper, “Protected A” and “Protected B” indicates sensitive information. This can include such as personal information contained in human resources records or industry information such as trade secrets held in trust, among others. The highest level of sensitivity is “Protected C” – Confidential, Secret, and Top Secret. Protected C can include information, which if compromised could result in disruption of critical infrastructure, serious impediment to the economy, or even loss of life.
To gain this status is a very challenging process. We had to meet specific criteria and undergo a comprehensive security screening process. Not only does the process include the application, but it also requires background checks of all employees, contractors, and workers. Any workers who have access to sensitive or confidential information must undergo thorough background checks, including criminal record checks, credit history checks, and verification of previous employment. We also do security screenings, assessing workers’ suitability for access to sensitive information. We are also required to perform on-going monitoring: Our security practices are reviewed to assess the continued suitability of our workforce for access to sensitive information.
